Giving Back: Our Partnership with SOS Children’s Villages

One of our core brand values here at Café Mountain is Giving Back. And that’s why we are proud to be partnered with SOS Children’s Villages. For every single product we sell to you, we make a donation to our chosen charity.

The charity operates projects in 137 countries and territories worldwide. The projects and “Villages” provide essential help and support directly to children, who are often orphans and who would otherwise be unsupported. The children are vulnerable and in need of a stable and positive family life. These projects ensure that children do not grow up alone, which no child should ever have to.

Take a look below at some of the amazing people our donations have helped so far.

Naol & Beki, Twins, Ethiopia

Take Naol and Beki, who live in Jimma, Ethiopia. These two amazing twins became a part of the SOS Children’s Village in Jimma when they were both just five years old.  Sadly, their biological mother died after giving birth to them, and they had nobody to look after them, as their father was unable to provide support for them at the time.

It was a touch and go situation, but luckily, they ended up in Bizunesh’s care through SOS Children’s Village, Jimma.

Bizunesh says: “The children were in a fragile situation. It was a rush against time to save their lives. I was not sure how this story would end. Beki’s condition was particularly critical. I gave them all the love and care they needed, day and night, carefully providing nutrition and medication as ordered by doctors. And thank God for all the people who supported the children, Beki steadily recovered.”

Thankfully, today, both twins are happy and thriving. And what’s impossible not to notice is the deep love these two amazing nine year olds have for each other.

Daniela’s Story, Venezuela

Daniela grew up in Venezuela, and had always worked hard in her education, with the hope one day of becoming a doctor. Her efforts paid off, with Daniela earning herself a place in medical school.

However, during her fourth year at medical school, the economic crisis in Venezuela hit. Daniela sadly had to give up her medical studies in order to feed herself, a choice no young person should have to make.

Today, Daniela lives in a village called La Guajira, which borders Columbia. After falling pregnant with her daughter, Daniela found it difficult to access healthcare. So, with the help of SOS Children’s Villages, she moved her young family, and remains determined to continue her education and give her family the best possible start in life. She still dreams of becoming a doctor one day.

“I would love to continue my studies,” she says. “It is certainly my dream. I would like to work and save some money to continue my studies in my country. And I would really love to help the Venezuelan people, help the people of my country.”
